Dixboro Free Little Library
“Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
-Mark Twain |
On behalf of the Dixboro community we would like to send a HUGE thank you to Anne Reader and family for designing, building, installing and stocking Dixboro’s own Free Little Library. Positioned to the east of the schoolhouse door, Dixboro Free Little Library pays tribute in mosaic to Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
What you say that you are not familiar with the Free Library movement. Well…..A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. There are more than 40,000 Free Library’s across the US. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Each Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Free Little Libraries have been called “mini-town squares.” |
